Quê Hương Frozen Peeled Yam
Quê Hương Frozen Peeled Yam is whole purple yam, known in Vietnamese kitchens as khoai mỡ, that has been trimmed and peeled before freezing. The flesh has the dense, slightly starchy texture that turns silky and lavender-tinted once cooked, with a mild, faintly sweet earthiness that defines classic Southern Vietnamese soups.
Grate or mash the thawed yam straight into canh khoai mỡ, the velvety purple soup simmered with pork and green onion, where it thickens the broth naturally. You can also cube it for braises, simmer it into sweet chè desserts with coconut milk, or steam chunks until tender as a simple side.
Each 16 oz bag holds peeled yam roots, already cleaned so there is no skin to scrape or sticky residue on your hands. Keep the bag frozen until you are ready to cook, and use directly from frozen or after a short thaw. Inside you will find only the yam itself, with no added sugar or seasoning.
