Myriad Foods Radish Cake
This is lo bak go, the savory steamed radish cake found on dim sum carts, made with shredded white daikon radish bound in a smooth rice flour batter. This classic version is studded with bits of savory Chinese sausage and dried shrimp, giving it a fragrant, umami-rich flavor and a soft, sliceable texture.
Slice the cake into thick squares and pan-fry in a little oil until both sides are golden and crisp, with a creamy soft center. Serve it the dim sum way with oyster sauce or a chili-soy dip for breakfast or brunch. It can also be steamed until hot if you prefer a softer, non-fried texture.
Each block weighs 23 oz, enough to slice into many servings for a family meal or weekend brunch. The radish base is studded with cured pork sausage and dried shrimp, so this is the meat-and-seafood version, not the vegetarian one. Keep frozen, then thaw in the fridge before slicing and frying.
