Myriad Foods Radish Cake (Vegetarian)
A meat-free take on the dim sum classic lo bak go, this radish cake is made from shredded white daikon radish folded into a smooth rice flour batter. Without the Chinese sausage or dried shrimp of the original, it lets the gentle, slightly sweet flavor of the daikon come through, with a soft, custardy interior.
Cut the cake into thick slabs and pan-fry in oil until the outsides turn golden and crisp while the middle stays tender. Serve with vegetarian oyster sauce, soy, or chili oil for brunch. Steaming the slices is a fine alternative for a softer, oil-free preparation that keeps it fully plant-based.
One block weighs 23 oz and slices into plenty of pieces for sharing. Because it leaves out the cured pork and seafood, this is the suitable choice for vegetarian eaters who still want the texture and comfort of traditional radish cake. Store frozen and thaw in the refrigerator before slicing.
