Myriad Foods Red Bean Buns
Sweet red bean paste, or hong dou sha, fills the soft center of these classic steamed buns. The dark filling is rich and smooth with the deep, earthy sweetness of cooked adzuki beans, wrapped in the same tender white wheat dough that makes bao so comforting to eat warm.
Steam the frozen buns over boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes until soft and heated through. They are a beloved dessert and tea-house snack across Cantonese kitchens, lovely with a pot of jasmine or oolong tea, as a sweet finish to dim sum, or as an easy breakfast.
Four buns come in each 7 oz pack, a handy size to keep in the freezer for whenever a sweet craving strikes. The filling is the dark, robust red bean variety, deeper in flavor than mung bean. Keep frozen until cooking and steam straight from frozen.
